The Johnson Christmas

It was the return of the Annual Johnson Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest.  The Johnson Christmas was on December 18, so we didn't have as much time to find that perfect outfit, but I think we all did really well!  The Link family swept the contest!  We won all categories, Men's, Women's and Children, but only came one with one prize, mine. (a lovely 8x10 picture of some random family) Aaron thought Lucas deserved the prize instead of him (which we later found out, he "forgot" his prize at the Lott house) and Ainsley won for the children, but was too young for the prize, so it went to the runner up, Caleb!

Our Christmas Tree

We picked out our Christmas tree on one NASTY day!  No it was not snowing... it was pouring rain - now doesn't that say "Christmas!"  I really wanted Ainsley to participate in picking out the tree for her first Christmas - really to just get pictures - but it was just too wet out.  She was already asleep in the truck, so that is where she stayed, while Aaron, Addysen and I dashed out to the tree lot.  We thought that we made a pretty good selection, until we got it home. It has a nice shape, but it is pretty short and fat.  Oh well, it's another family memory for us!

This past weekend we went to a wedding reception in Quincy, IL for our friend Cisco.   Cisco is a Captain in the Army and has been deployed overseas and I know we haven't seen him in years!!!  It was so good to see him and some other good friends!  I am very proud of the American Hero Cisco has become and I am proud to call him my friend!

Congratulations Cisco and Jessica.  And thank you for serving our country and keeping us all safe!

Let your light SHINE Ainsley Noel Link!

This week, the sermon was about discovering what kind of light you are, and what "light" God has given to you.  As Pastor Tim mentioned, Ainsley may still be too young to see what her light is going to be, but she does already have that light.  He gave this example, last week, during communion, she lit up the entire row of people with one big smile.  

What a powerful and important light!! Who knew that one smile could make such an impact! In the grand scheme of things, it may be a small gesture, but it should still be celebrated.  This past Sunday, Ainsley was baptized as a child of God.  And now we get to watch as she grows in faith and shines her light onto others.

Addysen singing with her Sunday School class, "This Little Light of Mine".  This was Addysen's first performance in front of the church.  Before the song started, Grandma K was trying to get Addysen to smile.  Addysen mis-read Grandma K's coaching.  Instead of smiling, she took her index fingers, and pulled out on the corners of her lips and stuck out her tongue - making a silly face:)  Unfortunately, my first thought was, "STOP IT!!"  It should have been, "quick get the camera!!"  It was quite a sight to see from my shy little lady and it got quite the laugh.



After church, everyone came over to our house for lunch.  We were so happy that our family was there to celebrate this day with us.

I don't know if it was my crazy week, lack of sleep or my aging mind, but there were so many pictures that I wanted to get that I didn't...  Oh well, I guess without a camera in my hand, I was more present in the moment to enjoy the day and to make precious memories... if I can remember;)
